St.James Cavalier Centre for Creativity: A sixteenth century fort built by the Knights of St. John as part of the military defenses of the city of Valletta, it has now been converted into an Arts complex with facilities for exhibitions, film and video, music and a small theatre in the round. The main objectives of the centre are threefold: to promote the contemporary Maltese art scene on a national and international level; to act as a cultural hub reflecting Malta's strategic geopolitical position at the centre of the Mediterranean; and to encourage art as a social event, creating bridges between people and nations.
